Bay Furnace Campground

Set along the southern shore of Lake Superior near the tiny town of Christmas, Bay Furnace Campground is one of the most scenic campgrounds in the Hiawatha National Forest. Sites sit close to the water with views across the lake and remnants of a 19th-century iron furnace right on the property. The campground offers both tent and RV sites, and the lake access is ideal for kayaking, swimming, and watching Superior sunsets. It fills up fast in summer, so book well in advance through Recreation.gov.
