Lake of the Clouds Escarpment Trail

Starting at the iconic Lake of the Clouds overlook — Michigan’s most photographed inland view — the Escarpment Trail follows a dramatic quartzite ridgeline for 4 miles through the Porcupine Mountains. Hike above the tree canopy with jaw-dropping views of the lake and forested valley far below. The trail connects to the Lake Superior shoreline for extended adventures through one of the largest old-growth forests remaining in the Midwest.
