Tahquamenon Upper Falls

The second-largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River (by volume), Tahquamenon Upper Falls drops 50 feet across a 200-foot span in a thunderous amber curtain colored by tannins from the surrounding cedar swamps. This is one of Michigan’s most iconic natural attractions — the falls made famous by Longfellow’s “Song of Hiawatha.” A short walk from the parking area brings you to multiple viewing platforms perfectly positioned to feel the mist and hear the roar.
